People being people.

Annotating letters from 1915 - date sent, recipient, general summary, that kind of thing - always has me pull up and stop when someone talks about being insulated from the war, and today I read someone remark about what's going to make the price of eggs go up. It's beyond someone from New Hampshire going an extra stop or two on the subway because they've never ridden it before and got caught up. It's well past making sure the end of semester grades are high enough to stay in college. There's a moment where someone says people in California throw on winter clothes the instant they can because winter's so short in the Bay Area. It's downright uncanny. It's enough to induce vertigo.

I'm about a third of the way through 1915, and there's a couple of folders for 1916 and a couple more beyond that. I figure it'll take me at least another three weeks, given present rates of progress. I'm pretty sure I know what I'll find, based on what I've seen. I don't know how well I'll know what to make of it.
