Not quite sleeping.

I'm quite drunk, though not quite sloshed, from wine and cider. The wine came both before and after a theater-going experience and the cider was had in my apartment, and it was also accompanied by cookies. The experience was Illinoise at the Park Avenue Armory, featuring the kind of dancing where the only way it'd be more impressive is if they didn't come down at the end of a jump. An astonishing command of space and the capacity of the human form in motion, movement, and collaboration with other human forms on stage.

It was a very New York City pleasure to get to the bus stop, wait a moment, then see a cab come to the light and for me to wave and for the cab driver to wave back - good timing, good spirits, taking me right across town riding high on the wine. I'd had some before the show to steady my nerves and ease things out, and I had some more after it was done to do exactly the same. Anticipation, and elation. Not quite all-singing-all-dancing, only some singing with a lot of dancing.

I'm glad I went through the impulse to buy that ticket some weeks ago. I can see it again on Broadway if I like - and I might - and I'm happy I was lucky enough to be able to see it tonight.
