Little things.

Going up to the roof to see some fireworks over New Jersey after it got dark meant not seeing all that many, since New Jersey doesn't like to wait that long, but I got a decent display. A while after coming down, I heard some more sounds, and put on my mask and went back out.

For over a year now, almost sixteen months, I've been taking off my jewelry when I leave the apartment for anything beyond walking across the hallway to drop off the recycling into the little vestibule.

Tonight, I didn't bother to take off my jewelry to go onto the roof.

Some of it was I forgot, and some of it was me knowing that it was honestly okay for me to do. That I'd be fine to keep it on.

The fireworks had moved past where I could see them, the second time going up, and I can hear them right now. It's a strange, oddly pleasant feeling. And it felt good to keep my hands pretty. I might not do it every time from now on - but that feeling of knowing I can keep them on safely is one I'm happy to have back.

I'm missing the significance of the jewelry -- why did you usually remove it when going out?
