I've taken to hanging out in a fairly cloistered mono-fannish space over the last year or so, and today it hit me I've somehow become their Fandom Old because I've been around more fandom in general than they have. Linking them to Fanlore and Crack_Van, explaining how fandom conventions are different from industry conventions, telling them about that one clownfish AU. Stuff like that.

I live alone, so I said aloud, "How am I a fandom old? I'm not old, I've just been around a long - "

Then I stopped and facepalmed alone in my apartment.

I told petra, who said, "…you are in fact a *fandom* old. not an old."

All I did was show up and not go away. And frankly, I don't plan on going anywhere.

I have become a Designated Old, repository of all information about life in fandom before the dark days of *gasp* 2015. (There are a *lot* of new babyfans in my fandom, I'm like the Cryptkeeper.)
