Distance of a soul parade.

The problem with LJ/DW: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your journal and find out what people don't know about you.

I always hesitate when asking people questions. I not sure whether it was my parents or some teacher early in my life who influenced me, but at a very early age, I got it into my head that asking personal questions meant being nosy and being nosy was bad. Later in life, I learned that people assumed I never asked personal questions because I was disinterested and snobbish, which isn't true at all. Often I was intensely curious, but I could never bring myself to just come right out and ask.

Yet, I still find myself falling back to those generic questions like "favorite color" or "favorite music" which are safely unrevealing. (The first question that popped into my head was to quote back your current music and ask if it's a favorite song or just something that was randomly playing in the background as you typed.)

So, here's my somewhat open-ended get-to-know-you question: If nothing limited your choices... what would you do/be? Answer the question like you would when you were a kid, back when things like family obligations or money or even lack of aptitude had no bearing on your "when I grow up, I'm gonna" fantasies. (i.e. I have never been able to carry a tune, but I still remember singing along to the radio into my hairbrush as a kid, imagining I was a rock star.) The question isn't about what you think you can or should or will do, but what you want to do. Fantasy vacation? Dream career? Dream house? Would you be a brilliant inventor? Become a professional philosopher who hosts poetry reading picnics?
