The skipping forward happened to me too! It turned out to be some older songs that I had bought when iTunes still had DRM in Australia. The file type was "Protected AAC file" and nothing else was affected. It might not be the same for you but changing those files into a different type worked for me.

The rain sounds like Sydney, where you never know what's about to happen and it rains all through summer, but never very much at once.
