Reference question.

I'm almost done with the third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I know Angel kicks off right at the same time as season four. I'm aware there's a lot of crossover, in characters shifting between the shows if nothing else, but what I don't know is the best possible viewing order. Just going by air date doesn't seem like it'd work, since there are multi-part arcs for each show and flipping back and forth when I have everything on Netflix seems a little silly.

I found this guide, and this one - so to those who've seen both, which looks better?

The first one seems more intuitive to me, with the caveats:
- I wouldn't break up "Five By Five" and "Sanctuary", the Faith arc is way too good.
- I'd take their advice and watch "Darla" before "Fool for Love", it's such a great contrast between the Fanged Four "then" and "now".
- I would finish S3 of Angel in whichever time-frame you like, but would not break up the S6 Buffy finale arc of "Seeing Red", "Villains", "Two to Go", and "Grave", it's way way WAY too heartwrenchingly excellently plotted.

I think you at least should watch the Angel crossovers in the spot they would have aired -- at least I Will Remember You for Buffy's development, and Five by Five/Sanctuary after Who Are You?, to see the conclusion of the Faith story. Though if you do the latter you miss some Wesley -- and Wesley/Angel -- development. Hmm.

ETA: oh wait, never mind. I misunderstood your plan. Just don't break up the two partners + watch the four Faith eps in order.
