It's been a nice night.

Captain America: Civil War is the second movie-going experience I've had where the women's restroom line was shorter than the men's. There was a bit of crowding in the corridor along the way, guys standing around and next to each other - so I said, in a loud and pleasant tone of voice, "Are you in line for the women's restroom?"

And all the men moved to the side to let me and the rest of the women through.

Much later, walking down my street to get to my apartment - ten PM on a weeknight in New York City - I ended up a fair ways behind someone, then almost behind her, and then ended up right next to her. She had earbuds in, and I wasn't making a lot of noise or movement, but she noticed something, looked around, and noticed me, and I have never caused such a full-body shock-jump-shout like that before.

Not that causing it didn't make me do one, too.

We both laughed, and joked about it, and both got onto the elevator. And just as it got to my floor, I said, "This will make a fantastic party story if you spin it right."

She was still laughing when I left.

Well done, on both counts!

I'd enjoy your thoughts on the movie, I think. I'm already pretty thoroughly spoiled and not sure I'll even see it, but it's a fandom I kind of follow at a distance.

Were you at the Loews Lincoln Square? Because after the 7 pm show, the men's line there was tremendous and the women's line was not.

Yes, that's the one I was at. I think I only spoke to someone in passing on the way out to let them know the huge line was for the men's room, but I don't think I've ever seen so great a disparity in that direction before.

Not tomorrow, no, but definitely some weekend when the weather is less gross!
